New Fund for Academic Women’s Career Advancement
The Vice-Chancellor has established an Academic Women’s Career Advancement Fund of $50,000 per annum over the next two years to fund projects or initiatives from the Colleges aimed at improving the capacity of ANU to attract, promote and retain academic women.

New ANUSA president
Sham Sara has been elected President of the ANU Student Association for 2009. The Arts/Law student and former ANUSA Social Officer took over from outgoing President Jamila Rizvi at the beginning of December.

Two ANU academics who work at the intersection between science and the environment have won Senior Research Fellowships from Land & Water Australia.
The annual awards are designed to free up the time of senior researchers so that they can concentrate on fundamental research, synthesis and outreach activities on natural resource issues.
