Undergraduate student Catherine Culvenor has put in a stellar performance at the Australian Track Cycling Championship, coming away with two medals.

Catherine took the silver medal in the 500 metre time trial and bronze in the keirin behind Anna Meares, world champion and Olympic gold medallist. She also placed fourth in the sprint.

“I am really excited about my performance because it was the first time I have really shown myself to be competitive at the elite level,” said Catherine.

“The speed and strength aspects of track cycling make it an exciting sport to compete in, and that’s what keeps me hooked.

“After deciding to do things a bit differently and coach myself this year, I couldn’t possibly be happier with the outcome.”

Catherine, a Bachelor of Statistics student, competed in the Adelaide event in January as a representative of the newly formed ANU Cycling Club.
